Thunderstorms In Forecast As Major Weather Changes Begin Across Hudson Valley

Find out when stormy weather could impact your weekend, according to meteorologists.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Sunny and hot weather will dominate the end of the work week, then rain and potential thunderstorms return this weekend, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service reports today and Friday will feature sunny skies and highs in the 80s to 90s.

“It’s feeling like summer!” the National Weather Service said. “Low humidity should keep it from feeling too hot.”

Highs today in the Hudson Valley will reach the upper 80s, then Friday will be hotter, with highs reaching the low to mid-90s, according to the National Weather Service.

The best day for outdoor activities of the weekend will be the first half of the day on Saturday.

The National Weather Service predicts Saturday will initially be sunny and hot, with highs in the 90s, then there is a chance for showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

Saturday night also has a chance of showers and thunderstorms, under mostly cloudy skies.

On Sunday, temperatures will be in the mid-80s throughout the Hudson Valley. There is expected to be some sunshine, but the National Weather Service says showers are likely, including possible thunderstorms between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Here are the forecast details for the Mid-Hudson Valley area via the National Weather Service:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 59. Calm wind.

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 94. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Calm wind.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 94. Light southwest wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Sunday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 88. Northwest wind around 6 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Southwest wind 6 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers after 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68.

Sunday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
