Kidnapping, Restraining Order Violation Charges After Tense Domestic Violence Disturbance: NYSP

VILLAGE OF MAYBROOK, NY — A tense situation was resolved safely after police were called to the scene of an emotional domestic violence incident, according to NYSP.

The New York State Police say that the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Montgomery arrested 46-year-old Jerry Carrasquillo, of Maybrook, on Thursday.

He was charged with felony second-degree kidnapping; three felony counts of first-degree criminal contempt (violation of an order of protection — physically menacing); two felony counts of aggravated criminal contempt (violation of an order of protection causing physical injury); and misdemeanor third-degree assault.

State police say an investigation began on Thursday after they received a report of a domestic incident at a home on Prospect Ave., in the Village of Maybrook.

Investigators found that Carrasquillo had unlawfully restrained and held a 47-year-old woman against her will inside the home.

Troopers who arrived at the scene were able to safely remove the victim from the home, and took Carrasquillo into custody without incident.

Carrasquillo was taken to State Police Montgomery for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Newburgh Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000 cash, a $50,000 partially secured bond, or a $200,000 secured bond on the kidnapping charge. Bail was set at $25,000 cash, a $25,000 partially secured bond, or a $100,000 secured bond, on the assault charge.

Carrasquillo is scheduled to return to the Town of Newburgh Court on June 9.
