TOWN OF STANFORD, NY — A Dutchess County woman is counting her blessings tonight after surviving a perilous fire, according to state police.
The New York State Police say that on Thursday, around 2:58 p.m., troopers in Poughkeepsie were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to a residential structure fire at a private home on Trestle Lane, in the Town of Stanford. A 65-year-old woman was reportedly trapped inside the home.
At the scene, troopers and members of the East Clinton Fire Department initiated rescue efforts and quickly removed the woman through a back window. Four dogs were also rescued from the home.
The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
State police say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Stanford Fire Department, the East Clinton Fire Department, the Pine Plains Fire Department, the Millbrook Fire Department, the Pleasant Valley Fire Department, the West Clinton Fire Department, the Union Vale Fire Department, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, and the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response.
