AMENIA, NY — Authorities have identified the Dutchess County man killed in a high-speed crash.
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says it continues to investigate the deadly two-car collision that took place on South Amenia Road, in the Town of Amenia, around 4:50 p.m. on Monday.
Accident investigators say a 1998 Porsche Carrera, driven by 54-year-old Scott Anderson, of Amenia, was headed east on South Amenia Road, near Benson Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Porsche then crossed into the opposite lane, where it was hit by a westbound 2020 Honda Pilot.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Honda was taken to Vassar Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The primary factor in the crash appears to be unsafe speed on the part of the Porsche, according to the sheriff. No charges have been filed.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner, the Dutchess County Department of Public Works, and the Wassaic Fire Department.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or events leading up to it is urged to contact Detective Sansoni at 845-867-5647 or send an email to this address. The Sheriff's Office can also be contacted via the tipline at 845-605-2583 or via email, and all information will be kept confidential.
