KINGSTON, NY — A short car chase followed by a foot pursuit led to a Brooklyn man's felony arrest in Ulster County, according to police.

The New York State Police say that on Sunday, around 9:53 p.m., troopers from Kingston saw a 2019 Kia driving on Washington Ave., in the City of Kingston, in violation of traffic laws.

Troopers tried to stop the Kia, but the driver failed to comply, which led to a four-minute pursuit, according to NYSP.

During the chase, the Kia fled northwest on Washington Ave., and sideswiped a 2011 Ford before leaving the scene, police said.

The driver of the Kia, who state police identified as 32-year-old Quavon V. Travis, of Brooklyn, stopped the Kia on Colonial Drive and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Travis was taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle found around 14.2 grams of Adderall and about 4.36 grams of Percocet.

Travis was taken to the State Police Kingston barracks for processing without further incident.

He was charged with felony fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; misdemeanor third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle; misdemeanor resisting arrest; and several uniform traffic tickets.

State police said that Travis also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office and New York State Parole for a parole violation. He was arraigned in the Central Arraignment Part of Kingston City Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail pending a future court date.
