Thunderstorms Emerge In Hudson Valley Forecast: Here’s When, What To Expect

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Today is expected to be sunny, with high temperatures in the low 80s, then the next round of stormy weather arrives on Tuesday, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service reports the chance for showers and thunderstorms increases for Tuesday, with some showers and storms lingering into Wednesday.

“Isolated strong thunderstorms could develop in the afternoon hours into the evening hours (on Tuesday),” the National Weather Service reports.

The chance of precipitation is around 60 to 70 percent during the day, then 90 percent Tuesday night, its meteorologists predict.

Showers and thunderstorms are again in the forecast for Wednesday, when the chance of precipitation is around 40 to 60 percent.

The weather will improve later in the week, with both Thursday and Friday expected to be sunny, with highs in the low to mid-80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 83. Light south wind.

Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 62. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers. Low around 66. South wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 80.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 84.

Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m., then showers likely. Low around 70. Southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
