Former Employee Who Continued To Use Company Gas Card Is Arrested On Identity Theft Charges: NYSP

The investigation began when the owner of Lehan's Lawn and Landscaping in Hyde Park reported unauthorized charges to police.

RHINEBECK, NY — A fromer employee who misused a company fuel card is facing a felony charge, according to police.

The New York State Police in Rhinebeck said a Hyde Park man was arrested following an investigation into the fraudulent use of a local business charge account.

On Friday, members of the New York State Police arrested Austyn A. Moyer-Mayhar, 20, of Hyde Park, following an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

The investigation began on June 23, after the owner of Lehan's Lawn and Landscaping reported unauthorized charges made to the company's fuel charge account at a gas station in Staatsburg.

Investigators say Moyer-Mayhar, a former employee of the business, continued using the company's account after his employment had ended. During the investigation, Troopers found that between April and June 2026, Moyer-Mayhar forged the business owner's signature on fuel receipts and fraudulently charged approximately $1,376 in fuel purchases to the business account, according to NYSP.

Moyer-Mayhar was charged with grand larceny, identity theft, forgery and falsifying business records.

He was processed at State Police Rhinebeck and released on appearance tickets.
