Body Recovered From The Hudson After 59-Year-Old Leaps From Walkway Of Bridge

NEWBURGH, NY — A Hudson Valley man is dead after a single desperate act on Saturday.

At 11:24 a.m., troopers from the Montgomery barracks responded to a 911 report of a man floating in the Hudson River near the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge in Newburgh.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Montgomery say the 59-year-old victim intentionally jumped into the River from the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge Walkway at approximately 11:19 a.m.

The victim was retrieved from the Hudson River by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit and transported to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to NYSP.
