Deadly House Fire Under Investigation Now In Orange County: NYSP

SPARROWBUSH, NY — An early morning house fire in Orange has left one dead, according to investigators,

At approximately 12:50 a.m., troopers out of the State Police Greenville barracks responded to a report of a fully engulfed residential structure fire on Darraugh Lane in Sparrowbush, a hamlet in the Town of Deerpark.

The Sparrowbush Fire Department responded to the home and extinguished the fire. Following the fire, a body was discovered inside the residence. Due to the severity of the burns, the victim could not be positively identified, according to NYSP.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but there is no evidence of foul play, according to authorities.

The investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Middletown barracks, the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit, and the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office, remains ongoing, officials said.
