HUDSON VALLEY, NY — As the incoming nor'easter bears down on the Hudson Valley, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued due to the potential for gusty winds and coastal flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for southeast New York from 2 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday. Winds of 20 to 25 miles per hour are expected, with gusts of up to 55 miles per hour.
Gusty winds of 30-40 miles per hour will be common across the mid Hudson Valley also, according to the National Weather Service.
A coastal flood warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday for southern Westchester County, with the potential for flooding of roads, parking lots, lawns, and waterfront homes. Flooding likely will extend inland along tidal rivers and bays, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain is expected to begin late Friday in the Hudson Valley and then fall both Saturday and Sunday, impacting any outdoor weekend plans.
The National Weather Service anticipates the storm will bring between 1.5 and 3 inches of rainfall to the lower Hudson Valley between Friday evening and Sunday. The totals are expected to be around 1 to 1.5 inches in the western and northern Hudson Valley.
The rain may linger into Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
