Victim In Deadly 3-Car NY17 Pile-Up Identified By Authorities As 45-Year-Old Pennsylvania Man

BLOOMING GROVE, NY — Authorities have identified

On Saturday, at 7:03 p.m., State Police Monroe responded to a three-vehicle crash on State Route 17 in the Town of Blooming Grove.

Accident investigators said a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Route 17 in the same lane and direction as a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2015 GMC Sierra. The Nissan and GMC slowed and came to a stop due to traffic conditions, but the Chevrolet failed to stop and struck the rear of the Nissan, according to NYSP. The collision caused the Nissan to strike the rear of the GMC.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Sean M. Nelson, 45, of Millrift, Pennsylvania, was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger of the Nissan were also taken to Garnet Health Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to NYSP.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have information about the crash is being asked to contact the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Haverstraw at 845-344-5300.
