HUDSON VALLEY, NY — When it comes to Halloween fun, nowhere does it better than right here in the Hudson Valley, but our biggest attraction lets families build big fun by keeping the spookiness mini-sized.

Legoland New York's family-friendly event, Brick-or-Treat, is in full swing and families can look forward to trick-or-treating, terrifyingly fun live entertainment, and meet-and-greets with Halloween-themed Lego characters. However, you'd better hurry because the Halloween fun comes to a "dead end" on Nov. 1.

Legoland New York is shaking out the cobwebs (and covering the entry arch with them) for the season. Unlike apple picking and leaf peeping, kids make the rules and the Halloween fun is built brick by brick.

While Halloween scares can sometimes be the stuff of nightmares, at Legoland, the scary takes a back seat to friendly.

Kids can meet their favorite Lego Monster characters like Spider Lady and Wacky Witch in person. There are also plenty of hands-on Halloween-themed brick building activities to keep your little monsters busy.

Don't blink or you might miss the world's tiniest pumpkin patch while you're busy counting the ghosts at Miniland.

While you are trick-or-treating, be sure to make it a point to detour your costumed gaggle through the "Graveyard of Ghouls" (but be careful not to stay forever!). The popular Dragon Coaster is even dressing up for the occasion as the "Disco Dragon Coaster," with festive decorations, a disco remix with a groovy monster soundtrack, and a dance party atmosphere.

The family won't just be leaving with trick-or-treat bags filled with candy. There is also a chance to learn new dance moves on Monster Band Boulevard where the Very Important Monsters (V.I.M.s) will have you dancing in the streets (of Lego City). Lord Vampyre is hosting "the coolest, most exclusive dance party only for V.I.M.s."

The Zombie Cheer Crew will show off their "undead" dance moves and be looking for yours onstage during this pep rally featuring the star of the show, Lego Zombie Cheerleader herself.

There might not be a better part of seeing your kids grow up than helping them create and build. Even in the most candy-centric of holidays, Legoland gives families a chance to showcase their creativity and build their very own Halloween potions, LEGO spiders, and pumpkins.

That doesn't mean that there isn't time for treats along with learning a few new tricks. When it comes to the "I Scream Sunday," or the "Spiderweb Funnel Cake," resistance is futile.

Legoland New York Resort is located at 1 Legoland Blvd., in Goshen. Find more information here.
