Apparent Winner Declared In 41st Senate District Race
BREAKING: We have an apparent winner in the race between Sue Serino and Karen Smythe.

State Senator Sue Serino, a Republican, has apparently bested challenger Karen Smythe, a Democrat, to represent the 41st Senate District.
The unofficial vote count, with all election districts reporting, is 56,462 for Serino and 54,316 for Symthe.
Serino first took office as senator in 2015. She is realtor from Hyde Park. She was elected to the Hyde Park Town Board in 2010 and then to the Dutchess County Legislature in 2011.

Smythe was born and raised in Poughkeepsie and is a former marketing executive who ran her family's construction business.
The district is comprised of parts of Dutchess and Putnam counties.
