The president of the company said veterans "suit up and show up and take pride in their work."

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Poughkeepsie-based business has been given the “Employer of the Year” award for hiring veterans.
Arnoff Moving & Storage has 14 employees who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, and the New York State American Legion presented the award to the company at a gala event in Binghamton, according to information from a spokeswoman.

Mike Arnoff, the company president, said it was the business’s choice to hire veterans because it was a way for an employer to give back to the United State for the service the veterans have given.

However, Arnoff said, “we soon discovered that veterans make exemplary employees in a business like ours where we are driven by customer expectations of excellent service.”
He also said the veterans were workforce ready.
“They understand regimentation, schedules and rules of engagement,” Arnoff said. “We don’t have to tell a veteran to arrive on time and wear their uniform. They suit up and show up and take pride in their work.”
