Arrest Made In 2017 Dutchess County Bank Robbery

State police said they had little to go on until they received a tip.

STANFORDVILLE, NY — A Poughkeepsie man was arrested in connection with a 2017 bank robbery. State police said Terry Thompson, 36, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with second-degree bank robbery, a felony.

Police said the Bank of Millbrook’s Stanfordville branch, located at 11 Hunns Lake Rd. in the Town of Stanford, was robbed around 1:13 p.m. Aug 7, 2017.

A male subject entered the bank, displaying what appeared to be a handgun, and stole more than $12,000 cash.

He fled from the bank on foot and then reportedly got into a light-colored minivan parked down the road.

The nine-month investigation by the Troop K Bureau of Investigation eventually led to the identification of Thompson.

“Despite the lack of any strong leads early on, a tip received a few months later helped Investigator Michael Ramirez to develop Thompson as a possible suspect,” Captain John Ryan said.

Thompson was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.

He is scheduled to next appear in the Stanford Town Court May 11.
