Arson Arrest Made After Investigation Into Fire At Hudson Valley Home
The Deerpark Police Department said because the charges are not bail eligible, the Port Jervis man was released on his own recognizance.
DEERPARK, NY — An investigation into a fire at an Orange County home has resulted in felony arson charges, according to police.
The Town of Deerpark Police Department arrested 41-year-old Amato Natale, of Port Jervis, following an investigation into a July 14, 2025, fire at a home. The residence sustained minor damage, according to investigators.
The 41-year-old's arrest was the result of a joint probe of the fire conducted by the Town of Deerpark Police Department, the Orange County District Attorney's Office, including its Hudson Valley Arson and Explosives Task Force, and the Port Jervis City Police Department.

Chief of Police Richard Sztyndor said that interagency cooperation was critical to the investigation and ultimate arrest.
"I extend my gratitude to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, including its Hudson Valley Arson and Explosives Task Force, and the Port Jervis City Police Department for their partnership in this case," Sztyndor said. "The combined effort and resources demonstrate our commitment to aggressively investigating and pursuing charges in cases involving intentionally set fires."

Natale has been charged with felony arson and felony criminal mischief.
He was arraigned in the Town of Deerpark Justice Court, but officials said that because the charges are not bail eligible, he was released on his own recognizance.
