Detail: Arts Mid-Hudson is pleased to announce the recipients of the 4th Annual Ulster County Executive's Arts Awards, who will receive their awards on Thursday, June 7, 2016. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails and silent auction before moving on to a seated dessert and award presentation. Ulster County Executive Mike Hein, community members, and civic leaders will honor this year's recipients at a reception held at the Saugerties Performing Arts Factory.
"Ulster County enjoys a thriving arts community and is home to more artists per capita than anywhere else in the state," said Ulster County Executive Mike Hein. "I am excited to present the fourth annual Ulster County Arts Awards, which recognizes some of the immensely talented individuals as well as dedicated organizations that work tirelessly to promote the arts day in and day out."
The awards are divided into 9 categories: Art Organization, Arts in Education, Business Corporation, Individual Artist, Art in Public Places, Patron, Special Citation, Volunteer and Student with Exceptional Promise in the Arts.
The recipients are chosen based on their important contribution to the growth of Ulster County's cultural life over a significant period of time, the extraordinary support they show of the arts, and/or their vision and leadership in using the arts to enhance community life.
The honorees are: Art Organization: Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, Arts in Education: Amy Mottola, Business: Bailey Pottery Equipment & Ceramic Supply, Individual Artist: Jack DeJohnette, Art in Public Places: Women's Studio Workshop for August art festival, Patron of the Arts: Arthur Anderson, Special Citation: Coach House Players, Volunteer: Barbara Cohen,Student with Exceptional Promise in the Arts: Asa Spurlock.
