Barricaded Man Surrenders Peacefully In Poughkeepsie

Police have yet to determine if any charges will be filed against the man.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — An incident in the city of Poughkeepsie Tuesday evening where a man barricaded himself in his South White Street apartment ended without injuries. Police said there was a report of a disturbance between and man and a woman around 7:20 p.m.

The hostage negotiators got Shaquan Smith to surrender safely after almost two hours, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Police said Smith was charged with aggravated family offense, a felony, and second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.
