Beacon's Main Street Named Among the 'Most Pristine' In The U.S.

BEACON, NY — A recent survey of Main Streets in the U.S. found that the Hudson Valley is home to one of the cleanest Main Streets.

Waste Removal USA commissioned a survey of 3,000 travelers to discover which towns and cities across America have the most pristine streets. The survey aimed to highlight those hidden gems where cleanliness and charm go hand in hand, making these destinations truly special.

New York is home to 3 of the most pristine streets in America.

Main Street in Sag Harbor placed 19th in the survey. The historic whaling village is celebrated for its charming Long Island atmosphere and cleanliness.

Meanwhile, Main Street in Beacon placed 28th.

Beacon’s vibrant main street along the Hudson River earned accolades for its "lively Hudson Valley charm and commitment to cleanliness." The street features shops, galleries, and the Dia:Beacon museum, all meticulously maintained. Nearby Mount Beacon, Bannerman Castle, and the annual Beacon Riverfest further highlight Beacon’s appeal with a clean and welcoming environment, according to the study's authors.

Main Street in Lake Placid cracked the top 40 in 39th place. Lake Placid’s picturesque Adirondack Main Street is renowned for its iconic Upstate New York charm and cleanliness, according to the survey.

"These locations not only offer visual appeal but also enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike," Waste Removal USA said in a statement announcing the country's cleanest Main Streets. "Clean streets play a significant role in creating welcoming and vibrant communities, and we hope this survey encourages more places to prioritize cleanliness and charm. "

2. S Main Street, Breckenridge, Colorado.
3. Broad Street, Augusta, Georgia.
4. Main Street, Putnam, Connecticut.
5. Loockerman Street, Dover, Delaware.
6. N Main Street, Cedar City, Utah.
7. Main Street, Deadwood, South Dakota.
8. Ocean Ave (Dock Square), Kennebunkport, Maine.
9. Main Street, Helen, Georgia.
10. W Main Street, Mountain View, Arkansas.
