Beacon Woman Drives Drunk with Child in Car: Police

Leandra's Law makes drunk driving a felony for a first offense if there is a child in the car 15 or younger.

A Beacon woman was arrested by the state police Wednesday for allegedly driving drunk with a child in the car.

Elizabeth Rosa, 44, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, a felony.

She was stopped on the Taconic State Parkway for traveling 15 mph under the posted speed limit and for failing to stay in her lane.

Police subsequently found Rosa was allegedly intoxicated.

Leandra’s Law applies because she had a 14-year-old passenger in the vehicle when she was stopped.
