POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A bomb threat which prompted evacuations Friday morning at Vassar College has been determined to be a hoax, according to college administration.

The threat targeted Davison House, and the college asked people to evacuate and avoid the area Friday morning until law enforcement indicated it was safe to return.

Davison is a residential dormitory on the college campus, according to its website.

“The bomb threat made earlier today has been determined with certainty to be a hoax,” said Elizabeth H. Bradley, college president, in a follow up message to the college community Friday afternoon.

In the 2 p.m. message, Bradley said Davison House had been cleared by police, authorities and Campus Safety, and students were free to re-enter their dorm.
