Brooklyn Man Arrested With Drugs On Taconic: Police

Troopers said there was the strong smell of marijuana when they stopped the car for a possible traffic violation.

MILAN, NY — State police arrested a Brooklyn man on the Taconic State Parkway for drug possession. Police charged Orlando Calderon, 30, of Brooklyn, with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana, misdemeanors.

Police said that, around 4:20 p.m. July 27, a vehicle and traffic stop was conducted on a 2008 Honda on the Taconic parkway in the Town of Milan for a violation.

While interviewing the car’s occupants, the troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana.

Calderon was found to have about 38 grams of marijuana, Adderall pills and 9 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, police said.

He was arraigned in the Town of Milan Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu $3,000 bail or $6,000 bond.

Calderon’s next court appearance is set for Aug. 2.
