The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley will convene regional history, cultural, and civic organizations for a timely conversation on engaging the next generation, as we approach America250, the anniversary of the United States. Gen Z (ages 18–30) isn’t a future audience—they’re engaging with history and civic life today.&nbsp;

Join Caroline Klibanoff, executive director of Made By Us, for a practical and engaging session on how to better understand and connect with Gen Z. Participants will understand what motivates younger generations, how they engage with history today and how authentic engagement can strengthen institutional relevance — ensuring we build lasting relationships with the generation that will carry this history forward.&nbsp;

 Calling all curious, brave humans who are ready to connect, expand, and have a raucous good time. Absolutely no experience necessary. Expect music, delicious food, storytelling performances, moments to write and share — no pressure — and room for all to listen.
Inspired by the big, bold spirit of our beloved late co-founder, Julie Novak, all of us at TMI Project invite you to step out of this crazy world and into an alternate universe where magic exists and we remember that being human is a shared experience.

If you’ve ever been in a room with Julie, you know the enthusiasm was palpable. The way she looked at you made you feel famous. She made everything feel like something to celebrate. This is the spirit behind The Julie Novak Storytelling Club. Come be part of what she started.

Hudson River Maritime Museum

This May, acclaimed historian and filmmaker Stephen Blauweiss headlines a dynamic three-part lecture series that invites audiences to explore the rich, surprising, and often overlooked stories of the Kingston Rondout. Blending meticulously restored historic imagery, engaging storytelling, and multimedia presentations, the series offers a fresh and entertaining perspective on regional and cultural history. Designed for both longtime residents and curious newcomers, each event delivers an immersive experience—far from a traditional classroom lecture—complete with compelling visuals, little-known anecdotes, and opportunities for audience interaction. Join historian Stephen Blauweiss in person for a multimedia presentation and virtual walk through the old neighborhood of Rondout before 600 structures were torn down. There will be many “Then &amp; Now" comparisons featuring a vast array of quality, historic images that Blauweiss has impeccably restored, including many of Kingston Point Amusement Park in its heyday.The presentation will be chock full of lesser-known anecdotes that will delight and inform. Whether you're a native or a newcomer, you'll be surprised how much there is to discover—this is not your 8th grade history class! There will also be time for Q&amp;A at the end. Stephen Blauweiss is an historian with over 30 years experience as an independent filmmaker and&nbsp;produces work on a wide variety of subjects, from art and education to social and environmental issues. He has produced over 75 short films, including three features. Twenty of his short films about artists have aired on American Public Television and have been screened in museums and festivals across the U.S., Europe and Canada, including the New York State Museum, Mass Moca, the Albany Institute of History &amp; Art, and the Dorsky Museum of Art.

WFF’s shorts program is Oscar®-qualifying, making it a great platform to explore and celebrate short-form storytelling.
Featuring Oscar®-nominated documentarian Geeta Gandbhir, alongside the “King of Indie Animation,” Bill Plympton and WFF Ultra Indie Award winner Harris Doran. The program will include screenings followed by a talkback with the filmmakers.
