Dr. Diana L. Silverman of CareMount Medical Named a 2017 Recipient for Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce "Forty Under 40" Award

CareMount Medical, the largest, independent multi-specialty medical group in New York State, is pleased to announce that Dr. Diana L. Silverman has been named a 2017 recipient for Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious “Forty Under 40 Mover & Shaker Award.” The annual award recognizes 40 individuals under the age of 40 who have shown a strong commitment to the Hudson Valley.

Dr. Silverman is a highly experienced and accomplished breast surgical oncologist at CareMount Medical. Dr. Silverman specializes in all types of diseases of the breast, both benign and malignant. She is skilled in performing a variety of breast-related procedures, including breast conservation surgery (lumpectomy), sentinel lymph node biopsy, axillary lymph node dissection and mastectomy. Her goal is to not only provide successful cancer treatment, but to also preserve the natural aesthetic appearance of the breast. She is an expert in performing skin-sparing mastectomies, an advanced surgical technique where the breast tissue is removed through a very small incision and immediate reconstruction can then be performed by a plastic surgeon.

“I am honored to receive this recognition from the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce,” said Dr. Diana L. Silverman of CareMount Medical. “My passion is to provide expert surgical care along with unparalleled warmth and compassion to patients facing the diagnosis of breast cancer in the Hudson Valley. The most rewarding part of my job is telling a patient they are officially cancer-free after completing their surgical treatment.”

Prior to joining CareMount Medical, Dr. Silverman was a breast surgical oncologist and Breast Program Leader at the Herb & Sue Ann Redl Center for Cancer Care at MidHudson Regional Hospital. She is a graduate of the Surgical Society of Oncology Accredited Breast Fellowship Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center; a National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located in Philadelphia, PA. It was here that she had specialized training with internationally recognized experts in the field of surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology and breast imaging. She received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and earned her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Silverman completed her surgical internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where she was elected the Chief Surgery Intern. Her general surgery residency was then completed at Midwestern University in Chicago, IL where she trained at one of the top Children’s Hospitals and Trauma Hospitals in the country. Dr. Silverman was elected Chief Surgery Resident for her final year of residency.

Dr. Silverman resides in the Hudson Valley with her husband, Dr. Adam T. Silverman, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, and daughter, Alana. In her spare time, Dr. Silverman volunteers at the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Options. She has also presented to medical professionals and breast cancer survivors at multiple venues across the country.

Silverman will be recognized at the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s “Forty Under 40” awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 25 at 5:00PM at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel & Conference Center ChangePoint Theatre.
