Christmas 2020: Thousands Without Power In Mid-Hudson

Almost 40,000 electricity customers can't turn on the Christmas tree lights this morning.

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Thousands of Central Hudson customers in the mid-Hudson Valley are spending Christmas morning with no electricity.

A massive rainstorm with heavy winds tore through the region Thursday into Friday causing the outages.

More than 32,000 Central Hudson customers in the entire system, which reaches from Putnam County to Albany County are without electricity as of 9 a.m. Friday.

In Dutchess, there are more than 14,000 customers in the dark. Hardest hit were East Fishkill, with 2,800, and Fishkill with 2,700. Estimated restoration is Sunday. Wappinger has 2,100, Rhinebeck has 625 and the town and city of Poughkeepsie has 700.

There are almost 11,000 customers without power in Ulster Friday morning.

Rosendale was the hardest hit with more than 2,400 customers. Marbletown has 1,100. Restoration is estimated for Saturday.

Olive, with almost 2,000 customers out, is scheduled for restoration by noon Friday.

More than 5,400 Central Hudson customers in Orange County are without electricity.

With restoration estimated for Saturday, Cornwall has 1,400 customers and Hamptonburgh has a little more than 1,000 waiting for the power to come back.

Almost 6,000 NYSEG customers in Dutchess County are without power Christmas morning.

There are more than 3,400 in Dutchess and 2,300 in Orange.

More than 3,000 customers in the town of village of Pawling in Dutchess are waiting for the lights to come back on. In Orange, more than 2,000 out of 3,000 Walden village customers don't have electricity.
