City Of Poughkeepsie Receives $3M State Award
It is one of the largest awards to a single municipality the board has ever made.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The City of Poughkeepsie was awarded $3 million from the state to honor the city’s Police Benevolent Association contract, improve parking infrastructure and create an economic development team. Mayor Rob Rolison said the state’s Financial Restructuring Board for Local Governments reviewed the city for almost a year resulting in one of the largest awards to a single municipality since the board was founded.
The portion allocated for improving parking infrastructure amounts to $1 million, which could help bring into the city $450,000 a year, according to the state’s findings, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
An additional $750,000 was given to the city to help offset the integration of the city and county bus routes, which takes effect July 1.
