<a href="https://www.hvcu.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Hudson Valley Credit Union (HVCU)</a> announced that the <a href="https://www.hvcu.org/about-us/foundation/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">HVCU Charitable Foundation</a> recently awarded $550,000 in grants to 80 nonprofits across its 13-county footprint, helping to expand access to essential resources in four key categories of need &ndash; education, food, health and housing. A total of $383,900 was distributed to 50 Mid-Hudson Valley-based organizations, reinforcing the credit union&rsquo;s impact on the region and the people who call it home.
The Foundation&rsquo;s Grant Review Committee used a data-informed approach to ensure grantees would address significant community needs and deliver measurable outcomes. Recognized for an ability to tackle immediate challenges and create pathways for long-term stability, the Foundation&rsquo;s Mid-Hudson Valley grant recipients were:

As a 501(c)(3) organization, the HVCU Charitable Foundation supports nonprofits that help to enhance the quality of life and foster financial freedom across HVCU&rsquo;s service areas. Since its inception in 2024, the Foundation has built a $10 million endowment, ensuring it can sustainably support organizations addressing the state's most pressing needs. To date, it has invested more than $1.1 million into communities, reaching more than a million individuals and families.&nbsp;

James Hoover and John Aubry are Ulster County residents whose lifelong dedication to conservation, education and public service has left a lasting mark on the region. Through decades of volunteer leadership with organizations including the Mohonk Preserve, Stone Ridge Library and Mid-Hudson Library System, they have helped preserve natural resources, expand access to knowledge and enrich countless lives.&nbsp;
Ken and Jean Kearney of Putnam County have leveraged decades of leadership in real estate development to help expand affordable, workforce, senior, veteran and artist housing across the Hudson Valley. Beyond their professional accomplishments, the Kearneys have demonstrated a deep commitment to charitable giving, nonprofit leadership and creating opportunities that strengthen the place they call home.
In Dutchess County, the entrepreneurial success of Daniel and Michelle Lepore and family has been matched by an unwavering commitment to giving back. Through charitable investments and the establishment of a donor-advised fund, the Lepore family continues to create new opportunities for organizations working to improve the quality of life throughout the Hudson Valley.&nbsp;

Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley to Celebrate Philanthropy at  30th Garden Party

<a href="https://www.guardianrevival.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Guardian Revival</a>, a Hudson Valley-based nonprofit focused exclusively on supporting the mental health of military members, veterans and first responders &ndash; collectively known as guardians &ndash; and their families, at no cost to them, announced the appointment of Kim Haight to chief executive officer, following her service as interim CEO since March. After leading the organization through a period of transition, Haight emerged as the natural choice to continue guiding Guardian Revival&rsquo;s mission.
Bringing more than a decade of nonprofit executive experience in strategy, advocacy, crisis response and mission-driven program development, Haight has provided steady leadership, continuity for staff and partners and a clear focus on sustaining the team&rsquo;s momentum. Her appointment reflects the board&rsquo;s confidence in her ability to lead Guardian Revival into its next chapter while keeping the mission grounded in its values of connection, healing and service.
&ldquo;Kim has led with clarity, compassion and consistency since stepping into the interim role,&rdquo; said Alex Othmer, former Navy SEAL and president/co-founder of Guardian Revival. &ldquo;She has earned the trust of our team and demonstrated the kind of mission-driven leadership this organization needs. Before joining Guardian Revival, Haight, who lives in Poughkeepsie, built a career centered around public service, community resilience and the well-being of vulnerable populations. A graduate of Marist University with a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in psychology and a master&rsquo;s degree in public administration, she served as executive director of The Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse (CPCA) and as director of advocacy for the New York State Children&rsquo;s Alliance &ndash; roles that involved cross-sector collaboration with government, law enforcement, mental health providers and community stakeholders. This experience in organizational leadership and partnership-building has strengthened Guardian Revival during this transition and positioned the nonprofit for continued impact in the months and years ahead.

Guardian Revival Names Kim Haight to Chief Executive Officer

The <a href="https://communityfoundationshv.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley (CFHV)</a> has committed more than $1 million over the next three years to strengthening food security across the region through its Farm Fresh Food Grant initiative. Made possible with support from the <a href="https://novofoundation.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">NoVo Foundation</a>, along with contributions from other funders, the initiative will provide annual grants totaling $350,000 to 28 organizations working to expand access to healthy food throughout the Hudson Valley.
The grants will support a wide range of efforts, including partnerships between farms and food pantries, fresh produce production and distribution, meal delivery for seniors and individuals undergoing cancer treatment, nutrition education and hands-on agricultural learning opportunities for students.
&ldquo;Healthy food is essential to healthy communities,&rdquo; said Laura Washington, president and CEO of CFHV. &ldquo;These grants invest in organizations that are addressing immediate needs while building stronger, more resilient local food systems. By supporting partnerships among farmers, food pantries, schools and community organizations, we're helping ensure more of our neighbors have reliable access to fresh, nutritious food."
The Farm Fresh Food program has grown into a comprehensive regional effort to strengthen food access and build a more resilient local food system. Since its inception in 2013, more than $5.4 million has been distributed to 54 organizations, but its impact extends far beyond these grants. The program also supports innovative efforts that reduce food waste and strengthen the regional food systems,&nbsp; including <a href="https://www.feedhv.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">FeedHV</a>, the <a href="https://www.feedhv.org/copy-of-home-1" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Chowmatch</a> app, and the Food Systems Coalition.&nbsp;
This latest round of funding builds on CFHV's long-standing commitment to food security across the Hudson Valley. That commitment was affirmed by findings from the foundation's 2025 "<a href="https://communityfoundationshv.org/publications/voices-of-the-hudson-valley-what-we-learned-from-you/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Voices of the Hudson Valley</a>" report, which identified food assistance organizations as among the most valued community resources and highlighted growing demand for the services they provide. According to the report, the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley distributed 54 million pounds of food in 2024, compared with 38.8 million pounds in 2018 &mdash; an increase of approximately 45 percent.&nbsp;
