Coach Accused Of Slipping Away With High-End Equipment At Hudson Valley Ski Meet: Police
The 39-year-old NJ man was a rep for Atomic Skis, the same brand of skis that had been reported stolen, according to police.
TOWN OF WARWICK, NY — An event official is accused of helping himself to competitors' expensive ski equipment at a Hudson Valley ski resort.
The Town of Warwick Police Department says that on Feb. 11, around 7:53 p.m., officers responded to the Mount Peter Ski Area after receving a report that several sets of skis, valued between $4,000 and $7,000, had been stolen.
Police noted that at the time of the incident, several schools from Bergen County, New Jersey were at the ski center for a scheduled ski meet.

Members of the Town of Warwick Police Department's Patrol and Detective Divisions reviewed surveillance footage and conducted several witness interviews. They soon identified a suspect.
On Feb. 17, 39-year-old Kevin R. Malkin, of Hopatcong, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with felony third-degree grand larceny. He was processed and released due to NYS bail reform laws.

Investigators say that Malkin had been serving as an official at the ski event, and was also a representative of Atomic Skis, the same brand of skis that had been reported stolen.
Town of Warwick police said that Mount Peter Ski Area management and staff assisted investigators by promptly providing access to surveillance footage and other crucial information, which led to the swift arrest.
