HUDSON VALLEY, NY ā A storm system approaching over the holiday weekend is currently expected to miss the Hudson Valley, according to meteorologists.
Rosemary Webb, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Albany, said Thursday that models are currently in agreement that the system will āstay out to sea.ā
Earlier this week, forecasters were predicting a 50 to 60 percent chance of precipitation late Sunday and into Presidentsā Day.

āWe arenāt expecting any significant impact in the Hudson Valley,ā Webb said.
There could be some light snow showers Sunday night, and the National Weather Service is currently predicting the chance of precipitation at around 30 percent.

In the near term, today and Friday are expected to be dry, with daytime high temperatures in the low 30s.
There is a chance of light snow showers on Friday night into early Saturday, with new snow accumulation of less than a half inch, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday, or Valentineās Day, will be mostly sunny, with highs near 40 degrees, and Saturday night will be dry. Sunday during the day will be partly sunny, with highs in the upper 30s.
After the chance of light snow Sunday night, Presidentsā Day on Monday is expected to be sunny, with highs in the low 40s.
The weather is expected to be cooperative if you have special plans for either Valentineās Day or Presidentsā Day, according to Webb.
It will start to get even warmer, with daytime temperatures rising to the mid-40s starting on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Its Albany office reported, āIf your calendar is booked up, you'll be happy to know that the weather will be fairly nice! Temperatures will be much more comfortable than last weekend and the chances for precipitation are fairly minimal for most! Enjoy!ā
The National Weather Serviceās New York City office says there is good news for anyone wishing for warmer weather: āIf you are tired of the cold...good news, the Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a 33-40% chance of above normal temperatures for Feb 18-24!ā
