Colorado Man Accused Of Attempted Murder
Town of Poughkeepsie people said the man shot at three young people.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Colorado man was accused of trying to kill three young people Wednesday. The Town of Poughkeepsie police said Justtin K. Haywood, 37, of Denver, Colorado, was charged with first-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.
Police said they were called to Innis Avenue near Arnold Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday for a report of someone shooting at three young people.
Officers found the youths and determined they were not hit or injured. Police also found a house that had been struck by a bullet; no one in the house had been injured.

Witnesses were interviewed and a description of the car Haywood was driving was broadcast to area law enforcement, police said.
A short time later, City of Poughkeepsie police located the vehicle in the city. They took Haywood into custody and turned him over to the town police.

Haywood was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court Thursday and was sent to Dutchess County Jail without bail.
He is scheduled to return to court Tuesday.
