Columbia County Man Charged With Felony DWI

Police said he had a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years.

CHATHAM, NY — A Columbia County man was arrested and charged with felony drunk driving after a traffic stop. State Police said Christopher L. Nooney, 28, of Chatham, was stopped while driving on I-90 Oct. 25 around 4:48 p.m. for traffic violations. While being interviewed, he was found to be intoxicated, police said.

Nooney was taken to the Albany barracks for processing.

He was found to have a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years. As a result, he was charged with the following:

  • Driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction with 10 years, a felony
  • Operating a motor vehicle with 0.08 percent or more of blood-alcohol content with prior conviction within 10 years, a felony
  • Vehicle and traffic violations

Nooney was released on traffic tickets to a sober third party. His next court date is Nov. 8.
