Committee chair named for Putnam Walk to End Alzheimer's; volunteers needed

Denise Kuhbier named Chair of Putnam Walk to End Alzheimer's; walk volunteer orientation set at 6 p.m. March 1 at Putnam Ridge in Brewster.

CARMEL -- Denise Kuhbier of Mahopac will serve as committee chair for the 2017 Putnam County Walk to End Alzheimer’s to be held Sunday, Oct. 15, at a new location at Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park at 201 Gypsy Trail Road.

“Alzheimer's is a challenge to us all, and after more than two decades in the field, I am dedicated to making a difference in the pursuit of a cure, which is why I have focused on serving as chair of the Putnam Alzheimer's Walk,” Kuhbier said. “As a registered nurse and health care consultant for more than 25 years, I have witnessed firsthand the onset, progression and debilitating effects this disease has on families. Today, in my role of senior vice president at LeanOnWe, an innovative home care service that helps families find private caregivers, I am able to provide expert guidance and help families find the right care for their loved ones. Throughout my nursing career, I have endeavored to educate my patients, clients, customers, neighbors, friends, and family about this illness, and hope that I will be an important part of teaching people how to cope with this terrible disease and working to find a cure.”

The Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter is seeking volunteers to serve on the event’s organizing committee. A Walk Committee Orientation will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Putnam Ridge, 46 Mount Ebo Road North in Brewster. Those interested in participating are asked to RSVP by clicking on the link on the bottom of the Putnam Walk page, PutnamWalk.org.
