Convicted Felon, Out On Parole, Arrested For Selling Drugs

Police made the arrest after the execution of a search warrant.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A convicted felon, out on parole, was arrested on drug possession charges Feb. 2. State Police’s Hudson Valley Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit, along with Troop K uniform members, arrested Michael Sterling, 21, of Poughkeepsie, after a narcotics investigation that led to the execution of a search warrant in a residence on Maple Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Police said that Sterling, a convicted felon, and currently on parole and reporting to the Department of Corrections and Community Supervisor, sold heroin on numerous occasions.

He was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell, both felonies.

Sterling was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Members of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision also assisted with the investigation.
