A stun gun was deployed but didn't work against the man.
Eventually, police said, Pittman was taken into custody by several officers.
One of the police officers sustained an injury to his shoulder and wrist, which required treatment at a hospital. The injuries will also require follow-up, authorities said.
Pittman was charged with second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.
He was also charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and trespass, a violation.
Police said he was processed and held for arraignment.
