Coronavirus: 3rd Ulster County Testing Site To Open
The county will reach out to all senior living facilities that at high risk to offer guidance about the new coronavirus.
KINGSTON, NY — A third new coronavirus testing center will be established in Ulster County. County Executive Pat Ryan said Tuesday the facility will be located in midtown Kingston and will be in partnership with HealthAlliance.
It is expected to be operational next week, officials said.
Additionally, Ryan acknowledged the disproportionate impacts of the new coronavirus on communities of color.

In response, he directed the Ulster County Human Rights Commission to develop a plan and work with these communities to ensure equity and access to information, treatment and other resources.

"Our new testing center in midtown Kingston will provide additional access for the community and I am looking forward to working with out Human Rights Commission to ensure that we do everything we can to ensure eery resident gets the absolute best care and support," Ryan said.
He also directed the health department, through a rapid response team, to reach out to all senior living facilities that at high risk to offer guidance and to better coordinate a response to the new coronavirus.
The rapid response team will support these facilities with testing, personal protection equipment and setting up health protocols. Ulster County has 13 senior living facilities.
As of April 21, Ulster County reported 1,049 confirmed positive cases of the new coronavirus. More than 3,800 people have tested negative for the virus.
