Coronavirus: 5 ShopRite Employees With Confirmed Cases

The company said that four of its Westchester County stores each had an employee who tested positive for the virus.

LAGRANGEVILLE, NY — An employee at the LaGrangeville ShopRite in Dutchess County was confirmed to have been infected with the new coronavirus. In a Facebook post, store officials said they have implemented the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended protocol to reduce the spread of the virus.

ShopRite said that the employee is no longer in the workplace, and colleagues who may have been in close contact for a prolonged period of time have been notified.

They are being required to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days, the post said.

The store has also implemented its own enhanced sanitation processes including all workspaces and common areas used by the employee who tested positive.

A request for comment from ShopRite was not immediately received.

This hasn't been the only case of COVID-19 in ShopRite stores in the Hudson Valley.

The company confirmed to the Journal News that their Westchester County stores in Thornwood, New Rochelle, Yonkers-Tuckahoe Road and Bedford Hills stores have each had an employee with a confirmed case of the new coronavirus.
