Delgado Gets Obama's Endorsement For Congress

KINGSTON, NY — Antonio Delgado, who is running to represent New York’s 19th Congressional District received an endorsement Wednesday from former President Barack Obama. Delgado is squaring off against Rep. John Faso, R-Kinderhook, on the November general election ballot.

In a series of tweets, the former president endorsed a number of candidates in what was called Obama's First Wave of 2018 Midterm Endorsements.

“I’m proud to endorse such a wide and impressive array of Democratic candidates — leaders as diverse, patriotic and big-hearted as the Americans they’re running to represent,” Obama said..

“I’m confident that, together, they’ll strengthen this county we love by restoring opportunity, repairing our alliances and standing in the world and upholding our fundamental commitment to justice, fairness responsibility and the rule of law. But first, they need our votes,” he said.

Delgado said he was honored and humbled to receive President Obama’s endorsement.

“The values he has dedicated his life to promoting — commitment to service, hard work and ensuring equal rights for everyone — are the same values I am committed to promoting for the people of our region,” he said.

“I look forward to continuing to build on the momentum created by the grassroots support of our volunteers,” Delgado said. “It is when we all work together, as actively engaged citizens, that we can best improve our democracy.”

The 19th Congressional District is comprised of all or part of 11 counties in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, Catskills and Central New York regions of New York.
