Devastating Fire Makes Wappingers Falls Building Uninhabitable
The blaze began Saturday afternoon in a building on East Main Street.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY — A fire broke out Saturday afternoon on East Main Street in Wappingers Falls causing extensive damage to a building that housed an antique store, a Mexican restaurant and apartments. Fire officials said there were no injuries, but the building is now uninhabitable.
The fire, which was reported around 3 p.m., was under control by 7:40 p.m., the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
The blaze began in the Rice and Beans Deli and spread to the entire building, MidHudsonNews.com said.

The American Red Cross was on the scene and the Dutchess County Assistant Executive Ron Hicks told the Poughkeepsie Journal the rapid response team would be deployed to help businesses with compensation or employment opportunities.
