DOT To Close Exit On Route 44 For Construction

Motorists should follow the posted detour and anticipate possible delays.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The state Department of Transportation is planning on closing an exit ramp on Route 44 for construction work. The closure is expected eastbound and on Route 44 (Haight Avenue) at Main Street/Dutchess Turnpike Friday, March 29, between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Weather permitting, crews will be performing construction activities.

The DOT said motorists should follow the posted detour and anticipate possible delays.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver's license.
