Downpours, Thunderstorms In Hudson Valley Forecast: Here’s What To Know

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are in the forecast in the Hudson Valley this week, but much nicer weather is expected this weekend, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service in New York City reports a frontal system will move slowly across the area late Wednesday through Thursday, bringing unsettled weather.

Showers are expected to overspread the area late tonight and continue throughout the day Thursday, it predicts.

“Locally heavy downpours and a few thunderstorms are possible on Thursday,” the National Weather Service reports.

The National Weather Service in Albany reports the rain will be steadiest on Thursday through Friday morning.

Temperatures will continue to be below normal for this time of year, with highs Thursday and Friday in the 60s.

A big warm-up and sunshine are on the horizon though.

The National Weather Service predicts Saturday and Sunday will be dry and sunny, with highs Saturday reaching around 80 degrees. Sunday will be even warmer, with highs around 87 degrees in the Hudson Valley, according to forecasters.

South wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 64. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
