Dutchess Community College To Move Southern Campus To Fishkill
The new facility will be 25 percent larger and designed to foster teaching and learning innovation and offer ample parking.

FISHKILL, NY — Dutchess Community College is going to relocate its southern campus to a state-of-the art satellite site in the fall of 2020 at the intersection of Route 9 and Interstate 84 in Fishkill. The new 47,000-square-foot facility will be located in the JW Mays building that previously served as an anchor for the Dutchess Mall.
According to a press release on the college's website, the demographic analysis conducted as part of the college's 10-year academic and master planning process indicated that relocating DCC South from Myers Corners Road in Wappingers Fall to the Fishkill crossroads would better accommodate the needs of people who live and work in southern Dutchess and Putnam counties.
The new facility will be 25 percent larger and designed to foster teaching and learning innovation and offer ample parking.

DCC signed a 15-year lease with the father and son team Robert and Rob Heron of Ingram & Hebron Realty for space in the building, which is owned by the JW Mays Corp.
Another 150,000 square feet is available, and it is hoped the college's presence will attract retail, dining and other tenants interested in providing service to students, faculty and staff.

DCC President Pamela Edington said the college shares with the board of trustees and the county a commitment to increase local access to public higher education.
"The new facilities, academic offerings and convenient location in Fishkill will better serve those currently attending classes at our 30-year-old Wappingers site, while expanding opportunities for others previously unable to take advantage of a DCC education," she said.
JW Mays Corp. will configure the interior space to DCC specifications.
DCC will occupy most of the top floor of the two-story building with 18 technologically advanced classrooms; biology, physical sciences and computer laboratories; library facilities; student services offices; study areas and a lounge. Courses currently available at the Wappingers Falls location, as well as new classes and programs that align with regional workforce development initiatives, will be offered.
Classes are expected to begin in August 2020, with registration set to open in March.
