Dutchess County Behavioral Health Commissioner to Leave Post
His new job will focus of patient services.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Commissioner of Behavioral and Community Health for Dutchess County is leaving his post.
County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro announced Thursday that Henry M. Kurban, M.D. will leave to go to work at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
The opportunity will enable Kurban to focus on the clinical services and direct patient care rather than the programmatic and administrative aspects required by the commissioner position.

His resignation is effective September 23.
Kurban joined the department in January, having served as health director for the Florida Department of Health–Charlotte County Health Department in Port Charlotte, FL.

The county has begun an executive search for someone with the necessary combination of management skill and clinical knowledge. An acting commissioner will be appointed from within the department in September, pending approval by the state Department of Health.
