Dutchess Man Accused Of Brandishing Weapon During Standoff
After speaking with the man, police said he went back into his home and came out with what appeared to be a firearm.
WAPPINGER, NY — A Wappinger man was accused of brandishing a rifle Saturday during a barricade situation with police in the town.
The New York State Police said Jerry Ford, 44, of Wappinger, was charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
Police said, around 9 a.m. Saturday, the Town of Fishkill Police Department were called to a home on Cooper Road for a welfare check request.

Ford was interviewed during an investigation outside his home, but he became increasingly uncooperative, authorities said.
He went back into his house and got what appeared to be a firearm, and then aimed the black rifle-style weapon at the officers before he went back into his home, police said.

The state police, the Village of Fishkill Police Department and the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office came to the scene, and Ford was taken into custody without further incident shortly afterward.
Authorities said the weapon was a rifle-style BB air gun.
Ford was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Wappinger Court Nov. 25.
Police said no one was injured, and there was not threat to the public.
