Dutchess Man Accused Of Mailing Suspicious Envelopes

Authorities said the envelopes sent to government offices contained a white powder and a note.

HYDE PARK, NY — A Dutchess County man was accused of mailing envelopes with white powder inside to government offices in New York and Connecticut. One of the offices was the Social Security office in Utica.

Jason Pantone, 34, of Hyde Park, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and was charged with conveying false information and hoax, WKTV.com said.

Besides the white powder, the envelopes had a note implying the powder was harmful, though so far, samples tested have not been considered hazardous.
