Dutchess Man Killed In 3-Car Crash Tuesday
The state police said the man drove into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons.
DOVER, NY — A Dutchess County resident was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Route 22 in the town of Dover Tuesday.
The New York State Police said David C. Elwell, 51, of Pawling, was driving his 2012 Hyundai Accent north on Route 22 south of North Nellie Hill Road around 6:30 p.m.
Police said he entered the southbound lane for unknown reasons and struck a southbound 2003 GMC Envoy, which was subsequently rear-ended by a 2019 Hino truck.

Elwell was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Three occupants of the Envoy were taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the Hino truck was evaluated at the scene by Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
