Off-Duty Cop Shoots, Kills Neighbor; Knife Recovered
Erick Gilmore, of Cornwall, was shot and killed by an off-duty Ramapo police officer, officials said.
CORNWALL, NY — An argument led up to the shooting death of a Cornwall man by an off-duty Ramapo town police officer around 11 p.m. Monday, authorities said. The Cornwall man was identified as Erick Gilmore, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said during a news conference.
Hoovler did not name the officer or give Gilmore's age, MidHudson News reported.
Authorities said a knife was recovered at the scene and the officer's gun was not his duty weapon.
