FBI Is Looking For Other Possible Child Sex Abuse Victims Of Hudson Valley Serial Predator, Feds Say

CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON, NY — The FBI is seeking victim or witness information in the case of a Hudson Valley child sex abuser who is believed to have been active for decades.

The FBI’s New York Division—Hudson Valley Resident Agency is seeking to identify potential victims of child sexual exploitation carried out by James Valentine of Cornwall-on-Hudson. Valentine was sentenced to 10 years in prison on July 27, for course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree and course of sexual conduct against a child in the second degree.

The FBI believes he primarily targeted minor boys between 8-years-old and 16-years-old between 1985 and 2025. Valentine previously was active military which provided opportunities to live in multiple states throughout the U.S. and therefore could possibly have potential victims outside of the New York area, according to federal investigators. Areas he was potentially active include, but are not limited to, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and California.

The FBI is seeking the public’s help in identifying potential victims of Valentine or witnesses to his criminal behavior. The FBI believes victims may have been contacted on Snapchat, using the handles "jimjam5572" or "bud967".

The FBI said it is legally mandated to identify victims of federal crimes it investigates. Victims may be eligible for certain services, restitution, and rights under federal and/or state law.

Responses are voluntary but may be useful in the federal investigation and to identify as a potential victims. Based on the responses provided, victims may be contacted by the FBI and asked to provide additional information. All identities of victims will be kept confidential, according to the agency.
