Flash Flood Watch For Dutchess, Ulster Wednesday-Thursday
The ground is already saturated, and more than two inches of rain could fall in some places.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY —The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties, as well as northwestern Connecticut. It extends from 6 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday morning.
Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected this evening into Thursday morning. With a very moist air mass in place, occasional heavy rainfall will occur with localized rainfall amounts of greater than two inches possible. Already saturated ground conditions due to heavy rainfall earlier today could result in flash flooding.
Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
This is due to the large high pressure system that will be blocking and steering Hurricane Florence. The heavy rains earlier this week were due to the remnants of Hurricane Gordon. The upshot of it all is that the ground was already saturated even before this morning's heavy downpour, and more heavy rain is coming, forecasters for Hudson Valley Weather said.
