
The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Dutchess county residents. It's in effect until 10:45 p.m.
At 841 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. A half inch to inch of rain has fallen and up to an inch of additional rain is possible through 10 PM.
Some locations that will experience flooding include... Poughkeepsie, Beacon, Pawling, Pleasant Valley, Wappingers Falls, Fishkill, Fairview, Hopewell Junction, Red Oaks Mill, Myers Corner, Wingdale, Dover Plains, East Fishkill, Beekman, Stormville, Baker Corner, Knapps Corner, South Dover, Hoxie Corner and New Hamburg.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
