The buffet restaurant was only open for a couple of months.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Did you try the new Golden Corral in Poughkeepsie on Route 9?
Me neither.
Two months after its grand opening the franchise restaurant closed its doors.

When you call the phone number listed on the Golden Corral website, a message said, “Thank you for calling Golden Corral in Poughkeepsie. Unfortunately, we are closed until further notice. Thank you. Have a great day.”
Calls to Golden Corral headquarters in Raleigh, NC requesting a comment were not returned.

Comments on Facebook included “Aaaaaand before I even get to try it, it’s closed!!!,” “Wow that was fast,” and “What? It was always busy why would it close?”
Perhaps the most poignant comment left was by John Tigman Rutigliano that said, “I got a gift certificate for Golden Corral (Poughkeepsie location only). Who wants it?”
After changing the opening date a couple of times, the grand opening occurred Jan. 27.
